Katie Thompson BSc(Hons)

I am a very experienced, friendly, and approachable musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and Certified APPI Pilates  Instructor. I am excited to be launching Thompson Physio & Pilates in 2021 and look forward to welcoming you soon.

Qualifications & background

After graduating with Honours from UWE, Bristol in 1998 I worked in Dorset for 10 years in the NHS and private settings, whilst studying for a Postgraduate Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine and acupuncture qualifications.

Our family moved to Jersey following my husband Alan's appointment as a Consultant Anaesthetist at Jersey General Hospital. I also joined the hospital team, working flexibly around my growing family before a return to  private practice.

In 2020 I passed the APPI Pilates Instructor Certification exams with 94% - becoming only the second practising physiotherapist on the island to gain this qualification.

Sporting experience

Whilst living in the UK I successfully one-day evented my horse in the South of England.

Running & cycling

I  have represented Great Britain three times at age group Duathlon World Championships (10k run/40k bike/5k run) gaining silver and bronze medals. I gained silver at the British Duathlon Championships.

I have represented Jersey in the Island Games Half Marathon, and won the Jersey Half Marathon.

I also qualified for the UCI Cycling World  Championships, following a silver medal at the Tour of Ayrshire.

Bringing my experience to the treatment table

With my own personal experience of competing at the highest levels of amateur sport, I understand the sporting mentality, and especially the challenges of combining this with a busy family and work life.

Exercise will inevitably form part of  your rehab plan with me!
